Michelle Kao (高天慧), PT

Michelle completed her B.Sc (Honours) in Life Sciences followed by a Master's degree in Physical Therapy, both from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Originally a native of Toronto, Ontario, Michelle spent 3 years in Shanghai, China with her family, and did an internship at a physiotherapy clinic during that time. She has practiced as a physiotherapist in Toronto, ON and Victoria, BC, and now she and her husband proudly call Vancouver their home.

Michelle maintains an active interest in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries particularly after a motor vehicle accident or back injury. She was a competitive figure skater in her youth and thus has a keen interest in assisting injured athletes return to optimal performance. She employs manual techniques to aid soft tissue release and restore joint mobility, and is also certified in acupuncture from the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute.


Michelle is able to speak English, Mandarin and Cantonese, and as a strong believer in patient education she arms her patients with an understanding of their injuries making them aware of the steps needed for successful rehabilitation.

Outside of work, Michelle is an avid hiker and loves exploring BC with her husband. She played competitive volleyball throughout high school and university as a setter and remains an avid volleyball player today. She also plays the violin, and misses her time at Queen's University where she played in the chamber orchestra and in musicals.
